Funny you should mention that, coz I was passing the Shell garage in
Trumpington High Street and noticed 107.9 for diseasel, but wasn't
quite sure at the time whether that was Star FM's frequency or not.
So I auto tuned the radio and lo & behold, there was Star FM on 107.9

Well you learned something, so the day wasn't completely wasted.

Bill

Starski is also on 107.1 from Ely Cathedral..

Albeit on a rather restricted pattern...

Yes, I was confused at first, but now now I have read the entire thread

Is that how she put it?

Mmmmm, not exactly, no.

There's no accounting for women.

You mean you don't keep the receipts?

Ahh! So that's why the Revenue won't let me claim for that weekend in
Cleethorpes. . .

Thanks for sorting Maltby yesterday. How much signal did you get from
Emley?

Off the aerial the four main analogues were between +3 and +9dBmV, with C5
at +1 (low as usual in non-LOS places) The digitals were all around -16dBmV,
with evidence of screening in the form of uneven levels across each one.
LOS figure for the analogues at Maltby is +26dBmV, so the screening is quite
severe.
I was a bit concerned to find myself pointing an aerial through trees. The
leaves are mostly off, so there could be a problem next summer.
The telly had already tuned itself in to three Emley muxes by the way.
Belmont was a possibility but they'd have the wrong region.

Thanks Bill. I'm sure that's the best that can be done in a bad
location. On the old aerial the Sheffield muxes had lovely flat tops
but of course it's on the limit of field strength and family didn't
want to wait a couple of years for the signal boost.
Interesting about the set tuning to Emley. On the old aerial the Emley
muxes were between 2 and 6 dB down on Sheffield. When I installed the
new set a few weeks ago I played with attenuators to drop Emley just
below threshold and the set autotuned correctly. Either the set later
took matters into its own hands or someone had a play.
