I have just been reading the latest (October 2008) edition of 'What
Satellite' magazine.

Is that your article about having ghost-free pictures?

John

How on earth would you get a ghost on a (presumably) digital
satellite system? Is this all about dodgy distribution and odd
cable joints etc?

Paul DS

It was about distributing satellite TV pictures with minimal/no
interference.

John

Oh good. I'm in such a muddle at the mo' I wasn't 100% sure it was
supposed to be in this month or next. I still haven't seen the
blessed mag myself! It normally gets here about the 22nd of the
previous month. I emailed the subs dept but they haven't replied. I
was in Morrisons today and couldn't get one either.

Bill

I must have gone into five or six WH Smith shops to find it, and none
had it! Eventually, I remembered a small newsagent in Regent Street
which had previously stoced the What Satellite, and I managed to get
the last copy!

Why is it so tough to find/get hold of?

John

"stoced the What Satellite" ???

Stop it stop it! John's been away on a total immersion course for pedantry
addiction. He's just on the cusp at the moment, so if you aren't careful
you'll set him off.

Yes, indeed, I was wondering that myself!

My fingers meant to type "stocked 'What Satellite'". Me bad!

That's nothing. The leader of the rail union said o Radio 4 that if
discussions with the employers reached 'resolvement' the strike would be
called off.

But there again he is only a union leader........

Dear me. I blame the schools. When I were a lad we had grammar thrashed into
us.

Shouldn't that be
"... we 'ad us grammar thrashed into we..." - being a Tyke?

Bad grammar, bad spelling (amazing how many people have never found the
spellchecker on their PC - or if they have it is set to English US) and
persistent use of a substitute for a common word - is it an epithet? -
as in the use of 'absolutely' for 'yes.' Pure affectation, nothing more
or less.

When I were a lad, we read books. Television was a novelty.
