Presumably you count yourself amongst them, given the desperate state of

the
English in your post?

Punter gives the implication of someone who is going to purchase something.
If I was talking about dumb people I could include you for comprehension.

I just know when I bought my Samsung a couple of years ago it was half
the price of the Sony being demo'd in HD next to it in Comet.

Prices have come down enormously since then, but Samsung still seem
great bang for the buck.

There is no apostrophie in Currys, why do you keep putting one in?

That would be 'apostrophe' I think.

Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.
Woman, where are your accusers? Has no man condemned you?
Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on sin no more.

Dixon group buyers, put the squeeze on manufactures.

Korean Co's like Samsung are always struggling to make a profit
with their worthless Won currency.
It allows Dixons buyers to dictate the price they'll pay

I don't blame them.

It is likely to be because Samsung have offered a better discount to
DSH and/or agreed to pay for the advertising.

I note that in todays Telegraph there is an advert (page 6) that is
dedictaed to Panasonic - DVD recorders and home cinema systems. I
suspect that Currys will have had a reason(s) for such an ad, probably
those mentioned above.

Saw an interesting item the other day, although I can't claim to its
voracity.

All LCD TV's are made by LG and Samsung, and the other brands - Philips,
Sony, Panasonic, et al - are selected units off those lines then fitted
into different cases. Somehow I find that difficult to disbelieve.

A Currys man said to me this afternoon that LG certainly seem to be
much less reliable than other makes.

I rest my case.

I would suggest it is more accurate to say that "almost all
LCD displays for television receivers" are either made by LG Display
or Samsung (not the TV receiver itself).

And it is through LG Display that there is a connexion between
Phillips (Netherlands) and LG (ROK).

From the Wikipedia article at

http://en.wikipedia.ORG/wiki/LG.Philips_LCD

QUOTE
LG Display (Korean: LG 디스플*이) was formed as a joint venture by the
Korean electronics company LG Electronics and the Dutch company
Koninklijke Philips Electronics in 1999 to manufacture active matrix
liquid crystal displays (LCDs). Formerly LG Philips LCD, LG Display is
currently headquartered in Seoul, Korea.

LG Display and Samsung Electronics are in a heated competition to be the
number one supplier of liquid crystal displays; they were each credited
with a 22% market share as of April 2006.
UNQUOTE

Although one should note --

QUOTE
LG Display became an *independent* company in July 2004 when it was
concurrently listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: LPL) and the
South Korean Stock Exchange (KRX: 034220). Currently LG owns 37.9% of the
company and Philips owns 32.9%. On August 17, 2006 the Wall Street
Journal reported that in an e-mail to customers Merrill Lynch said that
*Philips was seeking buyers*, including Japan's Matsu****a, for its stake
in LG.Display.

They increased the price about 6 months ago on the Samsung range.
That was so they could claim "SALE" when they put the price back
down to slightly more than the old retail price. Idiots will buy it at the
higher price just because it has the word SALE next to it.
At least Currys deliver their own TVs unlike Dixons who were using
DHL - and they just don't take care with anything. It usually gets
punched and kicked to fit in the van from what workers stated on a
forum. Dixons also refuse to replace TVs if they arrive damaged, you
have to get the old one collected first - then wait and wait and wait.

Aren't both Currys and Dixons part of the same group? PSG isn't it?
