Default DSO in Border region

I thought all the border region was switching over this year, but
apparently not. Selkirk and it's relays starts DSO on 6 Nov '08, but
Caldbeck and relays isn't until next June. Has it changed or wasn't I
paying attention?

You weren't paying attention :-)

Mind you Border TV itself will have been assimilated into Tyne Tees before
Caldbeck gets switched, because of Micky Grade's regional cuts announced
yesterday.

I thought you were a Londoner Marky.

I've been watching the capacitor thread in another
place, but felt unable to contribute in case our
antipodeans friend shouts at me.

Londoner? Some people 'oop north' may think that anyone south of
Peterborough is a cockney, but I can assure you I was born and bred in
Bedfordshire (or 'out in the sticks' as a Londoner would phrase it).

The cuts were only regional *news* programmes weren't they?

They were but AIUI Border area news broadcasts will now come from a broom
cupboard at Tyne Tees, and only a handful of staff retained in Carlisle. The
existing Border TV site will be sold. So to all intents and purposes, ITV
Border will cease to exist. Much the same for Westcountry, it'll relocate from
Plymouth to HTV Bristol.

Non news regional programming will still exist, though chopped down. I suspect
Border and Tyne Tees regions will probably show the same programmes ?

Ignore them. Drives them nuts. :-)

BTW If I need a quick measure of a capacitance and don't have a meter, then
using a sig gen, series resistor, and scope works neatly. But you didn't
actually say what you meant by "test" so had no idea if that was relevant.

Slainte,

Jim

Takes me back to Salford Tech 40 years ago and all that
One over 2 pi root LC stuff.

We used to hide a sig gen under the bench tuned to 1000Khz
and hide a MW radio in the room and send various noises
to it.

The "Liberal Studies" teacher had some sort of nervous breakdown
IIRC.
