Yes, as long as it's not DRM protected--- unless you've got some hacking
skills....

I'm wondering WHY? Normally a DVR is used to Record a show to watch later
and then Delete it. Really if it's something of Value on that VCR
recording, wouldn't it be better to dump that VCR recording over to a DVD?

Sorry, I misread your OP-- I was responding to copying VCR to DVD. I don't
know about a DVR.

When the DVR reads Macrovision, it will shut down.

It depends on the model. Mine just gives you a popup warning and won't
record the material.

A cheap little box and the video problem is fixed! But it doesn't sound
like he wanted to copy some Movie?!?! If you recorded something on TV or
you Video taped something with a Video Camera, there's not going to be any
Macrovision to worry about.

As for copying from VHS to DVD. I'll post a few links to places and you can
read up and find out what will work best for you.

Default VCR, DVR Question

Just to clear up some confusion about my question. I had some old home
movies of my parents transfered to vhs tape and was wondering if i could
record it on my
Dish DVR. I guess from the answers I recieved this is impossible.
Thanks to everyone who answered my question.

Default VCR, DVR Question

I can't imagine why it is impossible to copy old home DVD's or tapes. Run
your VCR to a DVR input and find out. This group has told me I can't copy
three programs at the same time. But I have my OTA TV tuner merged to my
Dish Network DVR and WaaLaa, I have recorded three shows at the same time
with only two tuners on my DVR. Your old home movies will not have copy
protection on them.
