Default HDTV over Coaxial cable

I am trying to set up the following: HD TV, HD Set-top tuner box/
receiver, and an upconverting DVD player. I am a few inputs and
outputs short to use component video cables tho, so i am wondering if
i could come out of my HD receiver with a coaxial cable and go into my
HD with that. would it still be high definition on my TV? If so how
much of a difference will it be between the quality i had when i used
the component video cables to come from my tuner to my TV. thanks a
bunch to anyone that helps out :-)

If you're talking audio coax like stereo interconnects, they won't
damage anything but you'll be very disappointed with the pix. Proper
cable is paramount.

No, the co-axial cable coming out of a cable/sat STB will NOT give you
a HD picture. They are used to provide analog NTSC signals for old TVs.
Note: this is different from the RF signals on the co-axial cable coming
from the cable/sat source.

The connection to the STB must use component cables or HDMI (or DVI)
to get HD. Doesn't your HD TV have 2 component inputs or HDMI? Use
component from the cable STB and HMDI or component from the DVD player.

What is your audio setup? Do you have a 5.1 sound receiver or are you
using the speakers in the TV? If you have a surround sound system, then
run a digital audio cable from the cable/sat STB to the sound receiver
for 5.1 sound for the HD and digital SD channels.

Alan F's reply is correct - the RF out is not HD, it is standard NTSC TV
for older televisions.

If your TV doesn't have enough component inputs, get a component video
switch box. The manual ones aren't expensive. I have one and it works
fine. For example:

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/PH61150

If you want to spend a bit more, there are switches that come with
remotes. Or, you can really go all out and get an A/V receiver with
component switching.

You might pull enough of an OTA signal through that RF cable to get
HD. Shoot, if I'm desperate for component, there's a $50 component
switcher, or you could just get a couple of Y-splitters for each
signal. Just make sure one device is turned on at a time.

If you have a HDTV, why do you have a HD Set-top tuner box? Is it
a HDTV which means it includes a HD tuner, or is it a HD Monitor that
requires an external HD source? Exactly what do you mean by HD Set-top
tuner box? Do you mean a cable box or satellite receiver? I use the
HDMI from my satellite receiver and component from my dvd/vcr.
