I have a dilemma here. I am in the process of purchasing a new tv. I
have got it down to 2 models... the Sony KDL-40S4100 and a discounted KDL-46v2500. Both of them are the same price. the 46v2500 is last years model which has been discontinued. From a side by side comparison, both pictures look very similar and great. Just wondering what would be the better one to get? Is there any big improvements over the newer model? New processors or anything? Is last years V model better than the current S model? Right now I am leaning more towards the 46v2500. I have tried doing some comparisons but have found very little information. Any information would be great. Thanks Mark |

Take the 46 home then replace it with the 40. You'll come back to the 46. The 46v2500 is the same TV as last year's "XBR" without the big fancy bezel around it. Reach for the brass ring. The 46" is it. Specsmanship is only specsmanship. Thanks Mark I have the so-called high-end Sony LCD, the 50 inch 1080p XBR4. It replaced a Sony 42 inch 1080i rear projection LCD Vega set I bought in ealy 2005. I never had any complaints about the Vega. The backlight bleed through in the XBR is terrible. And, the set has a real problem dealing with less than stellar source. Or, sure, a recent vintage Blue-ray looks anywhere from good to great. But, 1080i source from my cable provider that was good on the Vega can not only have the backlight bleed through problem, the tonal gradation in high contrast scenes is just plain lousy. |
