Sky would know, that's the point of the phone line connection,
to collect viewing data.

I watch one, MTV2 with odd glances at VH1 etc. My son watches others,
but who needs more than one channel showing endless crap chart music?

MTV now show too many 'reality' (ho ho) shows.

Yes - if they didn't, then TOTP would still be around.

have you ever looked at viewing figures for these things? there was a
time they'd have scrapped stuff for these figures

On the other hand, if you add up the odd half a minute of viewing per month
for each of the music channels combined you'd get a quite respectable 15
minutes a month, better than UK Gold! So
maybe the thing to do is treat them all as one big music channel with
multiple viewing options and 3 owners (Viacom, Emap and BSkyB).

Oh you definitely need more than one. As someone who couldn't put a Sky dish
up for years, and had to make do with Freeview, I can vouch for the fact
than one channel, "The Hits", is a lot worse than 15, or 29 with a Sky sub.

What they show on The Hits is such a rubbish selection that even I would
give up in disgust. But if there is some kind of popular music that does
appeal to you, you are far more likely to find it among Sky's 29 music
channels than anywhere else.

Except possibly YouTube, but then you have to know what you're looking for
already, which at the end of the day means you saw it on Sky.

MTV now show too many 'reality' (ho ho) shows.

Yes, MTV's modern management seem to be on a mission to remove as much music
as they can from MTV. These people should be lined up against a wall and ...

But with the amount of adverts on them, and the number of times they are
repeated, they don't actually need *anyone* to watch them.

Not to mention the ads seem deliberately designed to **** people off &
drive them away - ringtones, accident compensation, charity - every
****ing 15 minutes on every bloody music channel!
