Default clearance for ventilation in Entertainment Center

I need an LCD tv that will fit an Entertainment Center with an opening
54"W x 36"H x 24"D.

I was wanting a Sony 46", but all of the Sony's require 11 7/8"
clearance at the top which limits me to a 37" LCD HDTV.

So now I am looking at the Samsung LN46A550, but cannot locate any
clearance/ventilation requirements on the Samsung TV's.

Any suggestions? What is the Samsung clearance requirements?

Thanks,

Clearance requirements are relative. As long as the back and/or front of
the EC is open, there won't be a problem as long as the open area is as
wide as the top TV vents. And of course there's a foot clearance to the
ceiling.

Not to be a smart ass but... you will alway's want bigger. I'd dump the EC
and by a nice sturdy stand that will hold 200+ pounds on the top shelf and
50-75 pounds on the other two.. That way you can get just about anything you
want and your only restriction will be what your wallet will allow.

As long as the entertainment center has an open back, no problem. Or, you
could modify it with ventilation along the bottom and top edges if there's a
back panel.

Go idea - thanks. I will remove as much of the back of the
entertainment center as the wife allows.

Note that even cardboard like back panels sometimes contribute to
furniture's structural stability. Sometimes they serve to keep the
upright end panels straight. Remove too much and the top of the
entertainment center could shift parallel to the wall, allowing the
whole thing to collapse.
