Default Newbie Needs Advise on "demo" Mits TV

Sunday I bought a Mitsubishi WS-55413 (55") projection TV (to be
delivered tomorrow) and a SONY DVD Dream System with surround sound. I
paid $1567 + tax for the TV. Today, while looking at my receipt, I
discovered I bought a "DEMO MODEL" or the floor model. The salesperson
never told me this (even though it's on the receipt; the sign on the TV
said "Clearance"). Is it smart for me to keep it? I called the store
and they told me if there are any problems in the first 30-days they'll
replace it. Fine. I've always been a bit anal about used or damaged
goods preferring to pay more for brand new, but this TV at this price
is in my budget; whereas a new one would cost considerably more.

I know the issues of -burn in- and that stores tend to tweak the
contrast to compensate for the store lights. They claim it's been on
the floor for 2 or 3 months. What do I have to lose; I got 30-days to
see. Right?

Thanks for the great forum,

R C Abbott

Being a sales guy myself, I always make it clear to the customer that
they're buying a floor model. I would be a little upset with them if they
didn't make it clear. If you holler loud enough at the right people, they
might take care of you with a courtesy letter for a discount on future
purchases or something like that.

Having said that, you got the TV at a great price, it's an outstanding TV.
Regarding burn-in, turn down the contrast and brightness just a little bit
and that will help. If you want to really tweak the picture, get a setup DVD
such as Avia Video Essentials.

Hope this helps.
