But how did it compare to this -

ha!
it's out of stock - which means either someone has been stupid enough to buy
one, or the retailer knows nobody is.
from the site.....

I received the Silver Signature Powerkord last night and could not be
happier on its performance...

everything sounds so natural. I can feel the singer if he/she is singing

fantasize Sophie Marceau breathing into yours ears and her fingers running
up and down your body. Wrong parallelism but the pleasure level is the same!

Mr Chu, Hong Kong

and the plug has been cryogenically treated too - to 'de-stress' it.

The name 'russ andrews' leaves me honour bound to mention the following

Analog phono input (vinyl deck, microphone) - the signal is feeble, so

It's about the only case where cable can make a difference on domestic
stuff - with some pickup cartridges. Due to the relatively high output
impedance the capacitance of the cable can alter the frequency response.

One of my regrets is that people aren't taught to solder at school. That
way they could all buy the plugs and cables runs they want from
Maplin/CPC/etc and make up what is required.

Excellent news, but I fear it won't stop them making different claims in
the future.

I believe the same kind of claims made on a web site are not covered by
any ASA ruling.

When I bought a Humax Foxsat HD today (price 149 ) the sales
assistant told me that I should buy his Super Duper Gold Plated
Lifetime Guaranteed HDMI cable if I wanted it to work properly (price
£70 ). I said no, using a phrase I learned lurking here - that it
was " Just a Plug" - the expression on his face was just priceless.
So, whoever it was , thank you for the phrase - very useful. Oh, by
the way I used the cable Humax include and it works just fine
( although I admit it took me about an hour to figure out how to find
the non-FreeSat channels but that's another story).

maybe he wanted you to buy some special blank dvds too that make all
your recordings look better than normal too!

When I was In the trade I could bulk buy good quality one metre length
fully wired, fully screened gold plated
SCART leads at a trade price which produced an excellent mark up, even
when sold for around ten pounds each.

Some of the outrageous prices my customers were conned into paying from
a number of national high street retail chains for a virtually identical
product [the only real difference being that it was in a posh bubble
wrap display] imv bordered almost on the criminal.

When I put this point to a salesman employed in one of the
aforementioned stores I visited recently, he reckoned that it was
because of the fierce competition on a lot of electrical items they sell
they make almost zero profit and therefore have to rely on selling
accessories at inflated prices to stay in business.

You are probably right, as I know that a lot of motorbike dealers work
on the same principle.

Well Currys Digital are apparently going to close down 77 high street
branches, plus apparently the huge American 'Best Buy' company intends to
make its mark on Europe, according to an electrical retailing magazine I
subscribe to this could well have a catastrophic effect on many of our
existing high street retailers who are already facing an uphill struggle to
survive as it is.

Why should UK companies who have survived for 20 years, or more, by
lying to their customers base survive any longer? How many hundreds of
millions of GBP have these companies extracted from a non-technical
gullible public for unnecessary extended warranties?

Even if there were something in all this, one look at the way the signals
are routed inside the equipment should make most people realise that the
daage has already been done in any case.

Interestingly, on high current applications like speaker cables with fairly
long runs, you can, on some amplifiers, notice differences between cables.
However the conditions are hardly the same in tv systems between boxes and
the other bits unless your connectors are particularly crappy!
