transponder readiings on same bird vary

I have a 3LNB oval dish purchased from DirecTV. On the 101 bird,
transponder 10 registers about 35 & transpoder 2 is 0. Transponders
1 at
86, 3 at 71, 5 at 80, 6 at 79. The rest range from 50 to 99. Do I
have a pointing problem,
could a tree nearby cause some transponders to be weak and others strong, or
is something wrong
with my LNB?

Not sure why/how transponders on the same bird can be so different and what
I can do about it. Thanks for any help

They should mostly be in the upper 80's and low 90's at a minimum. There
are some transponders that will read 0 in your local area as they are
used for spot beam transmissions to other markets.

It definitely sounds like you need to repoint the antenna.

It just doesn't make since to me that some transponders can read 80+ and the
transponder for CNN (#10) and others (#2) read less than 30, all from the
same bird.

Some might be spot beam transmissions as I mentioned. Are you thinking
there's another problem with your system like a bad dish or bad cabling?

Its either a problem with aiming, a nearby tree or the LNB. I know about
spot beaming...thats not the problem. I was just trying to get an idea
if its normal to have strong signals on some transponders and weak signals
on others all on the same bird. Doesn't make since to me. Whether its
aiming issue or a tree in the way, how can that effect signal strength on
only 2 or 3 transponders but not the others? That only makes since if the
transponders were 100's or 1000's of miles apart?!?!?!
