... Anyone know if theres a way you can download the stored programs on a Humax 9200 onto a PC? Yes. You need a USB cable and the Media eLinker software (version 2.1 or later), supplied with the machine or downloaded from Humax. (You can view the programmes on the PC with the VideoLAN VLC media player available (free) from http://www.videolan.org/ ) -- Max Demian |

Transfer to DVD and copy from DVD to PC?
It doesn't have a DVD drive, so you'd have to do a SCART link to a DVD recorder. I've done it, but it's a lot of bother. SteveT |

This has been reported as more efficient than Media eLinker, and I've used
it myself with no problems, http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/huma...Controller.htm I concur. Media eLinker is almost useless, in my experience (yours may differ, of course). The HumaxMediaController application works brilliantly, although for some reason the developer didn't give it a GUI, so it's command line only. Fairly easy to use, though, and in my experience is totally reliable. Be warned that file transfer is painfully slow, whatever software you use. This is a limitation of the Humax. SteveT |

Steve Thackery, in article
, says... The HumaxMediaController application works brilliantly, although for some reason the developer didn't give it a GUI, so it's command line only. Fairly easy to use, though, and in my experience is totally reliable. There is a GUI for Media Controller at http://www.andrewdsmith.plus.com/hummy/. It needs to be manually installed, but that's relatively simple after reading readme.txt. -- JohnW. Replace the obvious with co.uk in 2 places to mail me. |

It wasn't a lot of trouble to record to my Panasonic DVD recorder. I'd guess it is a lot easier and more reliable than trying to record to a PC. -- Jeff (cut "thetape" to reply) |
