Default BEST analog to digital converter and set top box.

Please
let me know some advice on the analog to digital converting hardware.

I'm not rich so if I buy something I wont to work well and last a
while.
I have 300$ analog directional on rotor antena (RURAL LOCATION) that
right now serves 10 chanes if is raining and 6 if is dry
weatherquality is acceptional may be little static.I got this antena
wired in three rooms.

I got Olevia 23 inch LT23hvx model.
And for computer I wil purchase tv tuner down the road.(thinking of
pvr-500)

What is the best DTV converter or set top box I can get this to work
to peak performance?
Is there central unit that can be installed so the dtv is routed in
all three rooms?
What box will fit in the best for the money category?
What to stay oway from?

Tips?

I think you mean digital to analog, but close.

An antenna is an antenna. There's UHF, VHF, and UHF/VHF combo's (not
getting into specialty models). All digital stations will work with UHF
and/or VHF antennas. Most will be using UHF and upper VHF (7-13) because
they simply work better than lower VHF which is susceptible to more
interferences.

I got Olevia 23 inch LT23hvx model.

I hope you live in Canada or Mexico, because for all practical purposes
there won't be any analog stations on the air after next Feb. here in the
US (except lower power stations). And the PVR-500 will be useless. You
want an ATSC tuner.

Subject to much debate. I had excellent reception with the RCA DTA800B
converter box sold at Walmart.

Is there central unit that can be installed so the dtv is routed in all
three rooms?

Not by what I think you mean.

What box will fit in the best for the money category? What to stay oway
from?

All the DTV converter boxes must meet certain specs. Pick one and buy it.

Tips?

RCA DTA800B unit I bought at Walmart works very good.

DTV converter boxes don't output HD. I assume you know that.

Wikipedia has an article comparing the various models features.
I think the main issues will be sensitivity and perhaps the
nature of the remote controls.

Do all converters have buttons on the converter, for when you lose the
remote?

No. I only recall one button on the RCA unit, it I think was
the on and off. On the Zenith there is an on and off and
an up and down pair for previously selected stations.
Other than that you must have the remote. So when the
remote dies or completely lost, the unit is on it last legs.

You don't recall the RCA correctly. It also has channel up and down
buttons.

Oh yeh just checking in my privies post and i'd like to thank you for
responding.
Conclusion: just buy any converter that is priced right and have the
kind of remote you want the appearance you want.No other specific
recommendations.

That's about it. The box is a quick, cheap patch to keep your old TV
and VCR out of the trash after the transition. You'll need something
else to watch and record full-resolution HDTV.
