Default Bravia W4000 Integrated HD Tuner??!

Something I read in that ultimate reference to Digital TV (Zoo Magazine).

It's talking about the Sony Bravia W4000 TV, and it states blah blah to the
effect that when 'Terrestrial TV pulls its finger out and starts
transmitting HD' this amazing TV will be able to cope 'seamlessly'

Anyone know if this is true??!?

No it's not true for terrestrial broadcasts in the UK - see the spec
that Sony released last week:
http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProdu...Sony+BRAVIA+TV
According to Ofcom, the first STB/receivers capable of decoding the
DVB-T2 HD transmission standard to be used in the UK are unlikely to
appear before the end of 2009.

UK HD terrestrial transmissions are expected to begin late next year,
starting with the Granada region after their digital switchover.

The W4000 may be able to decode MPEG4, but it won't be capable of
receiving (the as yet unratified) DVB-T2, so it may receive HD in other
countries, but not in the UK.
