I want to thank all of you again for your help and suggestions.....I
appreciate all of it. I saved the information for future reference. I am now getting in about 4 stations fairly clearly....I'm ok with that for now. (I only got in 4 and 4.2 when I first wrote for help. I did notice that if the microwave is on, I get a lot of distortion on the picture. It's probably all because I don't have a good antenna. I didn't know if the box itself made a difference in reception or not. I still have 2 other tv's to connect and was waiting to see if perhaps a better STB would make a difference. Also, the directions said that I could use the rca cable or not (I think thats what theyre called...red, yellow and white) The tech told me that I don't need them. I didn't understand why they even mentioned them then. Wes, thanks for the offer for phone support...I still may take you up on that when I try to hook up the other boxes, if you don't mind? This thread was getting awfully long, so I figured I'd wait and see how it goes when I get another box to connect. Thanks again......dyanne |

Don't worry about the thread getting long. It's much better than any
HD-DVD Blu-Ray debate, and it'll be good to get the problem solving down to a science. But when you say four channels, are you talking about the subchannels, or the whole digital channel (the analog from before and whatever comes with it)? Yep, RCA cables, also called composite (but not component) so you won't get mixed up. You could plug them into a VCR so you can record shows using your converter's EPG when you're not there. Just make sure that if you do, the VCR is set on LINE IN, make sure the clocks match, and voila. |

I am getting 4.1, 4.2, 22.1, 22.2 and 53.1 & 53.2.
Channel 2 never did show up again. I had channels 11 and 13 for while...they're both gone too now. Channel 4 (always my best in analog) was perfect last night....this morning...it keeps going totally off and saying "no signal" It comes right back on too though. It seems a little better this evening. Thanks for the info on the RCA cable...I didn't know what exactly that was for. I have the vcr hooked to another tv...so, that will come in handy when I attempt to get a box for this tv. That may be a nightmare...the vcr, dvd player and webtv are all on that tv. I tried to do what I thought was the simplest first and even that has been a headache lol. |

You have Wes' number, and the group --that should be enough-- but if not, I'll give my number and we'll conference call : ) I tried to do what I thought was the simplest first and even that has been a headache lol. It's a lot to do with being comfortable with the technology from an early age. My nephew is three, and Sunday he surprised me by showing that he knew nearly all the steps for setting up the Wii controllers AND switching the TV over. (Myself? I didn't figure out how to switch my brother-in-law's TV over until just last month Why are the menu buttons at the top?.) So hopefully, this didn't seem like it became hopelessly complicated and confusing as you were learning how to do the problem solving. Congratulations. You did it. |

Yeah kids are amazing eh?
My grandaughter just turned 3, and my daughter went to do some work on the pc and found the lil one on the computer. She was on the Nickelodeon site playing games and printing out pictures to color. (she had to order new ink cartridges) She has NO idea how she even got to the site, let alone knew how to print. She also printed a kids "passport" My daughter and her husband just got home from Europe...I think next time the kid intends on going with them lol. Maybe I should just wait till the next time she visits, and I can get her to do all of this stuff for me? |
