I'm connecting to my TV from my PC through the TV OUT on my Radeon
X300SE video card. I'm cabling in through a video port on my older Motorola DCP501 home theater unit. Is there a preferred way to do this that will get me better video. The picture looks like I'm watching my old VHS tapes. |

The picture looks like I'm watching my old VHS tapes. your tv out is presumably s-video - it's not a HD output and never will be. to get HD from your pc to your tv you need to use a vga, dvi or hdmi output - depending on your graphics card - and the inputs of your equipment. if your card only has one monitor output you'll be out of luck unless you want to be constantly swapping cables. -- Gareth. GG Also what native resolutions, etc the TV actually supports, then determine if the video card in the computer will support that specific configuration. |

That fly... is your magic wand. Thanks. I think I get it now. Looks like I need a cable that has a DVI connector to go into the PC end and an HDMI connector at the other end. My TV is 1080i capable. |

I prefer it on one TV since it also controls the TV turning it on/off with the VGA signal. And there's no noticeable difference in the HD image. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org My Tivo Experience http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/tivo.htm Tivo HD/S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm AMD cpu help http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php |

Has anyone released to high quality graphics card with an HDMI plug? Quite a few actually. Google for "HDMI VGA CARD" (without the quotes, of course). Even the on-board video on my Gigabyte motherboard supports full 1080P HDTV with audio through an HDMI connector. I don't know if any of the HDMI VGA cards is doing the audio portion so be prepared to use a different audio path just in case. -- John McGaw [Knoxville, TN, USA] http://johnmcgaw.com |
