I've got a Sony 42" rear projection TV of about 3 years back and am
wondering if current generation ATSC tuners are substantially better at
handling multipath? Is it worth trying one to decrease Multipath dropouts?

If that is yout only option, yes, but on occasion I get some blocking
that is not from problems on my end. The antenna was checked with a
spectrum analyzer and is about as good as it gets. 2 different
receivers show the same fault. If it was a multipath problem they
would behave a little differently. Bottom line: if it isn't real
common, it could be the station.

Could you please explain how the station could generate multipath
interference?

You could get a Pinnacle HD TV stick or a similar ATSC tuner well
under $100 and test it on your computer.

It doesn't but data errors look the same at home whatever the source
of failure.
