Virgin V+ Remote Control Sensor

Hi,

I have a V+ box in a cupboard under my TV. As the V+ box is behind
doors, whenever i want to change channel i have to open the door. Is
there any way of attaching a sensor to the V+ box that will allow me
to change the channels while the doors are closed? I noticed that
there is a Remote Sensor IN socket at the rear of the V+ box.

Hope someone can shed some light?

There are also connections for USB and SATA on the back of the box and I
know (following enquiries) that these have not been enabled by Virginmedia.
I don't know about the Remote Sensor input.

I cant give you a specific link, but I've seen little gizmos that have an IR
receiver at one end of a cable, and a transmitter at the other(and possibly
a little box of tricks in the middle). You could get one of these, and mount
the receiver outside the cupboard, with the transmitter inside pointing at
the V+ Box's receiver...

Tie a string to the door handle and yank it open when you want to use the
remote - fix an elastic band to the door to make it auto-closing...........
Or, better still, how about fitting a remote controlled garage door opener?
