Freesat doesn't exist. It's a lie invented by the BBC since it is impossible
to watch C4 and C5 without a Sky box and Sky decrypted and the only channels
in the clear that are also on Freeview are just the BBC channels, the ITV
channels and Film4. Virgin, Sky3 and the rest are all encrypted and there
are no plans whatsoever for them to go clear. It's a waste of money buying a
HD capable satellite box when none of them apart from Sky's can decrypt the
HDCP protected content and when there is no Freesat EPG or Text or any
specifications for either. The government and Ofcom must be forced to other
Sky to make their encryption/decryption and EPG system available as a CAM so
that all standard satellite boxes can use them.

I don't care about HD to be honest.

Just to elaborate, are you saying that if you paid £20 for freesat, you will
only get what is available on Freeview? And you won't get EPG?

Also, will Sky plus work if you pay for freesat?

You sound like you're confusing
freesatfromsky (which is available now) with freesat (which is not yet
available).

Nope. You will NOT even get what's on Freeview except BBC, ITV and Film4 and
NOTHING ELSE at all.

NO! There are NO Freesat boxes in existence and there is NO Freesat in
existence either.

So you think when freesat boxes are available they will be incapable of
receiving the other FTA channels on the Astra satellites?

i.e. all the ones from NOT shown in blue/green/grey here
http://www.vowles-home.demon.co.uk/Sat/SkyFTA.htm

Having EPG entries for those channels will probably be a different matter.

I've failed to understand Agamemn in his posts.
I not sure if he just stirring the pot or putting his points badly.

I think your list is right Andy.
I'm not sure that this BBC/ITV Freesat is going to be attractive with the
omission of Ch4 and Five etc.
Price is a thing for Freesat can they compete price wise with SKY £75 at
Argos?

I think those wanting digital normal TV will not go for it, only those with
HD ready TV sets will possibly go for it for the HD versions.

Really Freesat should not do a box lacking HD, would be best if ALL boxes
had HD and they sold them as HD Ready. This would catch Joe Publics eye
for his HD Ready TV set.

A thing to remember All Sky boxes and Remotes whatever make are the same
specifications and all update.
Just look at the mess Freeview is, all boxes do different things, all
remotes different, displays different etc.

Freesat comes out in this Spring and no ones knows anything about!

David

Ignore anything Agamemnon says, he's a complete waste of space who posts
nonsense.

not so there are loads of them, even on 28E including ITV1 - 4.

the ITV channels and Film4. Virgin, Sky3 and the rest are all encrypted
and there are no plans whatsoever for them to go clear.

So you are the fly on the boardroom wall? Oddly enough these are already
FTA on DTT (when they could be paid for), so what you think will happen.

In any event why does it make it a lie if you can receive lots of free
channels.

It's a waste of money buying a HD capable satellite box when none of them

You mis-understand the Tony / Rupert Deal of 1996 which was roughly

You give us favourable coverage
and in return
We won't do anything to restrict your monopoly

In particular $ky has got away with not providing CAMs for EU standard CI
receivers for nearly ten years, and looks to continue doing so for a while
yet.
