"Big Daddy" wrote in message ... "High Def Ducks" wrote in message news:[email protected] FUD by Sony and the Beta Ray camp. HD-DVD is doing alot better than people are led to think. There are over 1 million dedicated players out there and growing daily. Not true (at least the "growing daily" part). From NPD number of standalone units: The January Week 2 unit sales data for each format looked AFTER the Warner announcement Blu-ray Disc - 21,770 units HD-DVD - 1,758 units Nobody is buying a format that has lost the war (which makes logical sense). I'd pick up some fire sale HD-DVDs if there were any worth buying. as it stands, I have Dune, Batman Begins, and King Kong (which came with my player), but don't see much else worth owning from the HD-DVD camp. Matrix sure, but that'll be on Blu-Ray soon, no? |

http://www.petitiononline.com/SAVEHDD/petition.html If you support HD-DVD and or multiple formats in the future consider signing this petition. Almost 12,000 signatures and word is that WB and other studios have noticed and it watching closely..and may reverse it's stance. Consumer backlash is very strong in support of HD-DVD. Over 1 million dedicated players sold so far is not a failure. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...(UPDATED)/1374 Whilst I agree that its a shame for the ppl that have HD-DVD players they took a chance jumping on the bandwagon this early in the lifecycle. Consumers don't want format wars. If these companies would think about that before starting their stupid ****ing contests the consumer marketplace would be much better. |

Now that Best Buy and Netflix have flushed HD-DVD I'm seriously ****ed. I'm stuck with the X-Box 360 HD-DVD player which will be worthless in another couple months. I sincerely hope Microsoft, which has been getting bent over lately and gotten basically everything wrong decides to offer a comparable Blu-Ray player at a discount for those of us who were duped into buying this solid gold paperweight. |

Why should I sign a petition when it doesn't relate to my interest in GAMES? HD-DVD is the inferior technical format (Blu-Ray specs spelled out or not), it is. Why should I support it, "Just to show Sony who is boss"? I didn't even take advantage of the 5 BluRay movie specials and only own 5th Element (I like the movie, so sue me), as a demo. This high-def movie format has invaded the videogame newsgroups, totally diverting attention away from games, and playing them. It is pathetic, all these partisan hacks who whine about this format and that, so that you get a bit more clearer resolution than upscaling produces. Enough. Enough. Enough. Go away, both your camps, and take Blig with you! - Rich |
