There are several weeks old threads on Digital Spy - Usenet for Dummies
;-) on this topic.

I think Series Link has mixed blessings. Try to record only each
Wednesday BBC2 9pm Torchwood programme, for example. You can't. Thanks to
SL every variant in the week is recorded, included the dumbed down kiddies
version at 7pm!

Well complain to BBC that they aren't setting the programme tags properly.

Paul.

Not so. I've been using Freeview Playback successfully to record the ER
series on Thursday nights on More 4

And I have a series link setup for Primeval on ITV1 and Numbers on ITV3.

I've not tried Torchwood but Primeval on ITV1 has a repeat showing on a
Saturday afternoon and so far the Hummy hasn't recorded that.

That has everything to do with broadcasters misusing it and nothing to do

Paul DS.

But the Freeview Playback Spec would suggest that it *should* link all
variants.

These channels broadcast CRIDs:

All BBC channels (but only limited coverage of News24)
C4 / E4 / M4 / Film4 and their +1 channels
ITV 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and their +1 channels
CITV

That was true last week but seems to have been fixed this week. I
removed my series set up for Torchwood and set it up again and all is ok
this week.

You just have to accept, for now, that Five and others are not using
series link and so you have to use the other facilities of the Hummy to
record a series.

not to be rude, but am i the only one who finds it really sad when people
refer to their topfield manufactured machine as a toppy, and a humax as a
hummy?
it's almost an attempt to anthropomorphise their machine into being their
special friend.

Can you point me at the Freeview Playback spec please? That would seem to
be rather odd, especially given the Channel, Channel+1 type channels.
Does this mean I should get two copies of everything :-(. ?
