I'm sure that's a mistake. Please provide the make and model number.

If you support HD-DVD and or multiple formats in the future consider signing
this petition.
Almost 12,000 signatures and word is that WB and other studios have noticed
and it watching closely..and may reverse it's stance.
Consumer backlash is very strong in support of HD-DVD.
Over 1 million dedicated players sold so far is not a failure.

Petitions don't work. Why do you think they cancelled Family Guy or
Arrested Development in spite of the outpouring of support?

Family Guy went back on.

Did the petition stop it from being cancelled? Just because there was
a reversal of sentiment LATER does not change the fact that the
numerous petitions did not stop anything.

You think it would have ever got back on without the petitions?

But HD DVD is Dead Disc Spinning, I'm afraid. Not that it had much of a
chance anyway. Going up against the Sony/Panasonic/whoever alliance
pretty much doomed it at birth.

Toshiba and the other HD DVD partners should have learned from VHS/BETA.
Seems like Sony did.

LOL. Of course. They brought it back based on the DVD sales not on
the petitions. You know how many petitions are started for canceled
shows? 99% of them are not brought back so the fact that I used
Family Guy in my example doesn't change anything.

It is the Samsung combo player. I think it was the BD something and
there was a promotion that went with either a TV or the Samsung
wireless surround sound system this last weekend.

um, no.

as long as most consumers don't give a **** about overpriced HD film
formats, they'll stick witrh DVD.

don't forget that DVD itself was on the marketplace a good 2-3 years
before it even started to take marketshare away from VHS.

If online petitions were worth a damn people wouldn't be fighting to
get Kucinich and Paul into the debates.

Yup.

VHS vs. DVD was a big step. much better picture quality, smaller media.
Longer lasting media? Not really better sound VHS was pretty good.
DVD to HD DVD or Beta Ray..most people don't care enough, The difference is
marginal in video and in-audible audio.
Players are over priced, unfinished Beta Ray format, HD war, more formats
coming in the future..DVD is good enough.
Plus people need a new HDTV, HDMI, new receiver, sound setup, stupid special
cables then ask them to pay for $30 movies to get any use out of HD.

Give them $80 players and $10 movies and $300 HDTVs and get rid of Monster
Cable from stores and then HD will ride the wave.

Family Guy went back on.

Yes - only AFTER Fox sold the syndication rights to Adult Swim where the
show quickly became one of the network's top rated programs.

Ditto with Futurama. Fox hated it, even though it was popular, and even
won awards. So naturally, Fox cancelled it. Later it too went to Adult
Swim, where it also became one of the network's top rated programs.

Don't forget Firefly! The petitions did nothing to bring the show back
(it was the DVD sales that did it)

However, Jerricoh was brought back on the strength of petitions wasn't
it?
