Then you need to do some research. Thatcher was out to 'get' the miners
regardless. And coming closer to home the broadcast industry too.

Oh! Yes. The BBC with all its hangers on and clipboard holders
assistants!..

You defend the BBC, then slag it off.

Just read any newsgroup you occupy using google-groups reveals that
you are always moaning about how standards have dropped and that
too many BBC engineers lost there jobs, but yet you defend the
woman who caused it all to happen.

Next you slag off immigrants, then defend them.

Scargill made a very good job of losing the fight didn't he?.

But he did fight.

I've had in years, not just on the kit and its prices but also the bold
statements that he makes that are just a farce.

I often wonder just how many of his mailing list customers do this
with no intention ever in a million years of buying one of their
overpriced, over hyped items.

Buit you HAVE to assume someone must be buying the crap off him - he's
still in business!!

Maybe he gets a fat subsidy from the EEC. After all as a producer of prime
bull**** they must find him impressive.

Although no one sounds interested, here's the pic of my bruv and Tony

There's only one person on the picture, apart from the bird.

Thanks for the insult. I'd go away and think about the actual point before
calling others stupid. But I doubt you can remember how.

Absolutely correct. Our UK system of government elects parties, not people.
The elected leader of the party then becomes PM. How the leader is chosen is
described in the party's standing orders. They differ from party to party.

Very simple.

On a partisan note, Thather tore great holes through our social fabric ("No
such thing as Society" i.e. every person for themselves, often (wrongly)
interpreted as "work hard and you'll succeed). In her favour, she took on,
and defeated, the Unions that were becoming far too entwined in the running
of the country (beer and sandwiches at No 10).

Even now, a generation later she evokes strong feelings.

So consulting those directly involved in an industry is a bad thing?
Strange. Only the other day that nice Mr Cameron was on about doctors in
the NHS not being consulted/in favour of something or other.

No problems with consulting.

However in the 70s with the Wilson government, they were co-running the
country, hence 'beer and sandwiches at No 10" - all wrong.

Wilson warning the Unions "get your tanks off my lawn" - to little effect.
They were dark times.

Thatcher blew all that away. However the 101 things she did wrong (Council
tax, Reagan, mass privatisation, social destruction, etc etc.) need to be
offset with the thing she did right - take on the Unions.

Sorry you got that wrong. I do alternately defend the good bits of the
BBC i.e. Proms and suchlike, but they do have some very bad bits in that
in the 80's they were very overstaffed. I remember once a news crew from
the BBC with 10 staff members to cover what ITN took 3 to do!..

They are top heavy with management and their senior executives like
Jenny Abramsky on over £300,00 quid a year plus a pension pot the size
of the EU wine lake!! whatever and how can they justify salaries like
those? Christ! what does she do to warrant that? Where in commercial
radio does anyone get paid that money its more then the bloody prime
minister gets!. Just a load of piggy's with snouts in the trough...

And lets not start of about that fecked up DAB system they promoted and
why cannot they have decent bitrates for radio services like what other
European broadcasters do?..

Just read any newsgroup you occupy using google-groups reveals that

What Thatcher?.. Now lets see how long has she been out of power now?..

And see above..

Next you slag off immigrants, then defend them.

When and where have I done that, and why would I want to anyway being of
immigrant stock if Irish is included in that, and being married to an
immigrant?..

I reckon brother James that you can make any comments fit into your
single mindset;(...
