A set top box to decode digital TV costs about £20, yet
a 'box' to decode digital radio typically costs £100 although you can get them cheaper recently, but still £50 minimum. And you don't even get a remote control with the radio, or a scart lead worth £50. Personally I would price the the circutary required to decode digal radio at about 50p. |

Well , it's a shame I got one for about half that recently. Also you haven't quite grasped economics of scale meaning that the more they sell , the cheaper they get - hence cheap STBs. Personally I would price the the circutary required to decode digal radio at about 50p. That's nice for you -- Alex New laptop - Sig missing |

Then make and sell them at that price. You'll make a killing. BTW I've got ****loads of SCART cables I can sell you for 49.99 - you could make a killing on those too. -- Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Yes it is an intersting post. Early adopters allways pay a lot more. But your minium of £50 is high, £30 about the starting price now. Visit Tesco they got them. -- Regards, David Please reply to News Group |

Yes DAB prices are silly. For some reason virtually all the sets look like 1950's models (and won't rack mount) and typicaly lack connectivity. As discussed in this group the sound quality is well inferior to CD, FM, Nicam, DTT or DSat except on radio 3. And you don't even get a remote control with the radio, or a scart lead worth £50. I can supply scarts at £5 + VAT if you can find the punters at £50. Ditto 12 in 1 remotes. Personally I would price the the circutary required to decode digal radio at about 50p. A bit more than that; ditto SAT TV, where the cheapest receivers come in at £50. |

Ditto 12 in 1 remotes. Just picked up a 10-in-1 from Lidl for 4.99UKP. Not perfect layout (but they never are) but does all I want. Take "codes" and can also "learn". Paul DS |

Yes DAB prices are silly. But still not even half as silly as the cost of running them from non rechargeable batteries. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

Paul DS My remoye for my amp can control all other devices, but I find it easier & quicker to use the original remotes. Problem with it is that whatever you switch on, it turns the amp on as well, assuming you want the sound through the amp, but I don't always want that. It has a lot of preset switching macros that operate when I don't want them too. Marky P. |

Plus the fact that out of those only FM is suitable for a portable radio, and that only sometimes. -- *Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |
