"Marantzis joining the Blu crew in 2008 as well, with a high-end Blu-ray
Disc player, the BD8002. And actually, high-end doesn't even cut it.
Marantzis calling this player "ultimate quality" with built-in Silicon
Optix processing for superb DVD upconversion, and the press materials
indicate internal decoding of both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. "

Another sign the BluRay is winning.

Who owns this company this year?

Like alot of old brands they use to be good, now they are just Best Buy mass
market fodder.

Do your homework. This is why I stay away from here. Everyone who
reads a blog somewhere becomes an expert.

Marantz was founded by Saul Marantz in 1951, who sold control to
Superscope (anamorphic lens for cameras and the original importer of
Sony) in the early 60s. Saul stayed on until about 67. Superscope
created the Marantz Japan Corporation about the same time and through
this period of time was when Marantz was a powerhouse until 1980 when
Philips took control worldwide except for North America. In NA the 80s
was a bad time for us because of this split. Became global once again
in 90 and the focus became the CEDIA channel which brings us to today,
the only difference being who signs the checks.

The factory is the same as the one started in the 60s.
There are children of original company people that are working for the
company now.
The focus has never changed.
We have never been in Best Buy, nor will we ever.
The president of D&M Holdings, our parent company has Marantz, not
Denon or McIntosh in his main home entertainment system.
I have been in this business since 1972, and been with Marantz for 11
years.

Well, I did even better than you did . . . I bought (and still have
working) a Marantz 4270 Quadradial receiver. Never did get either of
the plug-ins fot it though.

Marantz

Seeing this name is a blast from the past for me. My very first
receiver was a Marantz 2270 purchased in Berlin in 73. I bought the
original Bose 901s at the same time. Alas, both spent several years
in the garage before I finally cleaned them out.

Mr. Miller (tiasmom),

Does Marantz offer an HDMI 1.2+ AVR or a pre/pro that will process all
the new audio formats and that will also process SACD DSD format signals
(e.g., as available from the Oppo 80H?) Do they include the Audessey
system or equivalent? If not, what new AVRs or pre/pros are expected to
be introduced this year? Expected price range?

Thanks,
Jim
