Default Marantz goes BluRay

"Marantz is joining the Blu crew in 2008 as well, with a high-end Blu-ray
Disc player, the BD8002. And actually, high-end doesn't even cut it. Marantz
is calling this player "ultimate quality" with built-in Silicon Optix
processing for superb DVD upconversion, and the press materials indicate
internal decoding of both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. "

Another sign the BluRay is winning.

Yeah, for a couple of grand, I'm sure BestBuy can't wait to get them!

The response I expected. I didn't mean that it's show up as big in total
units sold. Marantz came out with there first DVD player only ~2 years ago.
For a small company to make a, for them, significant investment in a format
so young means that there is high confidence that BluRay will prevail.

Actually we came out with our first DVD player in 1998. The first two
years were OEM'd from Toshiba, then we built our own.

I know you guys build good stuff, so I expect your BD player to be top
knotch.

I won't be buying one though, my HT is not at that level now, nor will
it ever be. Working around jet engines for too many years took its toll
on these old ears...

Good luck with your intro into BD

After all I've been reading about blu-ray and the BDA, you're really going
to stick the company name on a buggy prototype design?

Since you have been reading all about it I guess you are an expert
then. I'll tell the factory to stop immediately.

Seeing this name is a blast from the past for me. My very first
receiver was a Marantz 2270 purchased in Berlin in 73. I bought the
original Bose 901s at the same time. Alas, both spent several years
in the garage before I finally cleaned them out.

Who owns this company this year?

Like alot of old brands they use to be good, now they are just Best Buy mass
market fodder.
