So, what are you going to buy: Blu-Ray 1.0, Blu-Ray 1.1, Blu-Ray 1.2,
Blu-Ray 2.0 ... ? Sony loves format wars so much they're going to have one
with themselves!

****.....I hope you are kidding!

No he's not kidding, that's why it's called Beta Ray.

Profiles 1.2 and 1.3 later this year.

1.1 was just approved. ALL Beta Ray players other than the PS3 sold up till
now are non upgradable profile 1.0

While blu-ray is certainly king in the ring, the fight isn't over until
HD-
DVD throws in the towel and there aren't any more contenders. Personally,
I don't want anything Sony makes or has it's hands into. I've seen a
couple of reviews of the HD-VMD format and I'm waiting to see how they pan
out for storage and price.

Non optical formats are going to come soon in the form of a Flash type ROM
readers or something. I'd like a Nintendo DS type Flash card insted of discs
any day.

Non-optical does sound like the future.....I assume much higher bit rates with
flash memory than with optical media?

I know Sony already makes 4K digital cinema projectors.....how long until we see
2160p for the home consumer (4 times the resolution of 1920x1080p)? I would bet
that only flash ROM can handle video bitrates for 4K Super Ultra High
Definition!!!

hd-dvd is best. I dont need to convert mpeg 2 to avc on a hd-dvd.
Blu-rays take hours to make if you dont have a super computer.

anyway my 750 gig tivo hd gets all kinds of hd movies. so why would a
need blu-ray anyway?

I like blue LEDs. They are pretty.

About as meaningful. Your preference makes no difference for
HD-DVD.

guess you dont make your own blu-ray or hd-dvds.

I know blu-rays can use mpeg 2 without converting it to avc on a dvd-r.
But i cant find the software to do it. I tried make a blu-ray on ulead
movie maker 6. But it will only make 1080x1440 blu-ray dvd-rs. And then
it takes 7 hours to convert mpeg 2 to avc.

You are a friggin' idiot.

Competition is a good thing, and we are all better off because of it. Even
with the threat of HD DVD jeopardizing the market, Sony still has managed to
impose all sorts of DRM and licensing issues to make HDCP, HDMI, and content
token a standard set of disk features.

If you had both formats and authored in both formats as I have for 18
months, you would know that HD DVD delivers superb content and is at least
as good and in some respects superior to BluRay.

I hope the entire planet throws a big-ass party the day HD-DVD is dead,
dead, ****ing DEAD!!!! Good riddance!

VHS took years to kill off Betamax........but now Sony has sweet revenge
and HD-DVD wont even live to see the end of 2008!!!

REJOICE!

P.S. - HD-DVD is same garbage as those ****ty pay-per-view DIVX disc
players Circuit City was trying to sell a few years back
