HDMI cable

Hello,
is there a big diff. in quality between HDMI cables?
I do find some cables at 10 euro for 1.5m and cables at 99 euro for 1 m.
lenght.
I do need a good HDMI cable to connect a full HD TV with a HD VCR with hard
disk.
What are the points that I have to look for.

HDMI is a digital signal, so there's not a great deal of difference between
cheap and expensive cables.
I guess at the very cheapest end of the market, the build quality could be
poor and therefore provide a less than ideal connection, but as long as the
cable is reasonably constructed, I can't imagine there would be much
difference between (say) 10 euro/m cable and 100 euro/m cable...

I certainly wouldn't expect any improvement in a cable costing more than 10
euro, I would probably pay less that that.

but, the second one will probably use oxygen-free conductors and platinum
plated connectors as well as having had a witch doctor do magic things to
it. So it will be very much better ;-)

Purcase the cheapest cable you can find and see if it works OK - don't
go wasting money on "Monster" cables

the cable will either work or not - a more expensive cable will not give a
better picture - the cable is passing a digital signal - either enough of
the signal gets through to give you a picture or it doesnt.
expensive blank cds won't make your word documents look nicer after all....

Hear hear. Some argument for decent analog cables (e.g. a long Scart used
for RGB should have shielded video signals), but for digital it either gets
there or it doesn't. For example the ADSL you are probably using manages to
squeeze 8Mbs down miles of thin, wet, cracked and frequently jointed copper
and aluminium cables.

Ah, but there is one other advantage in buying the expensive ones. Not for
you, of course, but for the "honest" retailer, who will tell you just how
important it is to have an expensive cable, missing out the bit that
describes how this claws back any apparent discount you might have achieved
on the telly. They are, without exception, rogues and
vagabonds........................

(I did see the smiley) - Russ Andrews do a very reasonable half metre cable
for £76.50!!!! Or you can get a 1.8 metre cable at Cable Universe for £2.99.
