Yes the 12 months period is a con trick as you have a longer period in

You didn't read what I wrote. The One year guarantee is with
Manufacturer.

Just shows what cheating cnuts TV retailers are.

how?

Remember if it goes wrong within 5 years you are covered by the law
anyway.

against the retailer.

Yes as with the extended warrenties which are money down the drain as you
are
already covered.

If you are worried about the store going bust you can always
check it's share price. Companies with a High Street monopoly, eg
Currys and Dixons don't then to go bust very often. Not many firms
through away their license to print money. They are safer than highstret
banks
if your are worried abouot then going bust buy a load of Tellys, they are
safer
and hold value better.

Presumably this was a side by side comparison with them both set up for
optimum picture quality, i.e. all fancy settings in the respective menus
unchecked, brightness, contrast and colour set properly and on the same
programme material?

LCDs with 22/23 inch LCD at around 90-120W. I recall marketing
claims some years ago that LCDs used less power. I am only getting a
LCD for space constraints in a boat.

but with more & more "boxes made out of ticky-tacky" space constraint is a
very relevant requirement for many people.

This LCD/digital frenzy is just pure spin and a triumph of marketing over
shoddy substance. For quality, go/stay CRT.

If you want wide screen, CRTs tend to have serious geometry problems a the
sides or are even deeper than the 4:3 relations.

LCD's used to use less power when they had completely unwatchable
dim pictures, by the time they meet the picture standards of a CRT you will
need a mini power station to run it.
Also I imagine with a big widescreen you are into viewing angle problems
even when viewing full on as the angle to the sides of the screen will
dim the picture.
A find example of people drooling over inferior technology.
TV's have now become a status symbol rather than a means
of seeing good quality pictures. Most people are now
technological 'fashion victims'. They must have the lastest expensive
'outfit '
from the 'designer', no matter how ludicrous it is as an article of
clothing.

maybe - but it still doesn't make me a salesman - I don't buy extended
warranties either.
