As of today there are now 2,700,000 Blu-ray devices that meet the
profile 1.1 specifications. This is something Warner have been waiting on for a while to release titles on Blu-ray like The Matrix, V for Vendetta, Batman Begins, The Perfect Storm, etc., that have previously only been available on HD DVD. With Blu-ray continuing to dominate the high def software sales in North America on a weekly basis, winning last week's sales 76:24, standalone players hitting under $300 and a host of new profile 1.1 and 2.0 players to be annoucned from Sharp, Panasonic, Pioneer, Denon, Marantz, Philips, Hitachi, JVC, Daewoo, Funai, Sony and others throughout CES 2008 and beyond, Warner will have less and less reasons to continue to support HD DVD and the end of the format war draws closer in sight. Congrats to SCEA for getting this update sorted out before the first profile 1.1 discs are released in January. Fox's "Sunshine", Lions Gate's "3:10 to Yuma" and "War" and Sony's "Resident Evil 3" will all have true PIP tracks on the disc. Those without profile 1.1 players will be able to watch the PIP featurette separately. |

LOL Omg pathedic..seriously pathedic.
Got a girlfriend, kids , life, job? Or just a shelf full of stupid $30 movies and videogames that normal healthy people with lives really don't care about? I have a PS3 as well and my emotional attachment to it or any multi billion dollar company is zero. It's a gaming machine. almost eveyone i know..which is not many don't even have it hooked up to the internet and could care less about Beta Ray or it's stupidly expensive movies..and this update proves again it it Beta. Now we wait for profile 2.0, 3.0 4.0 5.0.. and one good game to play on the PS3.. "ninphan" wrote in message ... Congrats to SCEA |

Congrats to SCEA- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - There are over 3 million registered users on the PS network, so it seems you're a tad off in your assertions. I don't know about $30 either, almost all of my 100+ Blu-ray collection has been between $9.99 to $17.99. What does pathedic mean? Why would you be waiting for profile 2.0 when there are no discs that currently implement those features? It seems like you are the one who is emotionally attached and full of misinformation. |

Excuse me ,This is 2008! And Blu-Ray runs off of Java-Script. Ever patch your browser(s) for java-script security exploits? My friend (who has a Sony PSP) says that when you purchase newer games, the firmware is automatically updated. Some time in the future, Blu-Ray owners will be buying movies that will automatically check firmware version and upgrade from the movie disc. Any firmware "hacks" that folks may have down to their machines will be "assimilated". Resistance is futile. Hidden memory locations that log movie titles, number of times watched, etc. will be uploaded to Sony's marketing home-base if/when the customer connects to the Net, thinking he's enjoying the Blu-Ray "extras". Blu-Ray is internet capable, and Java-script is the EXECUTABLE. Not just a mark-up language like (XML? - microsoft's thingy). I see Blu-Ray's future as becoming more and more "locked down". Hardware must be locked down if DRM is to have any teeth to it. Maybe that explains why the majority of movie studios are paying homage to this format. They will be paying royalties to Sony out the royal wazzu, but fighting Jack Sparrow is mighty important to them, and they can always pass on the higher costs to Derek Janssen ... (sorry, private joke). For those who burn at the thought of piracy, Blu-Ray is the way to go! winfield "Alan" wrote in message ... "Always Right" wrote in message ... I'm going with HD DVD.
