Hi all
I have a sat box and vcr connected to the tv as follows: Sat Box to Vcr to tv av1 Sat Box direct to tv av2 When I turn on the sat box the tv changes channel to av1 and then fractionally later it displays avi-rgb. Howevervwhen I turn the sat box off the tv doesn't go back to tv, it stays on av1. Any ideas what I am doing wrong here please? It's a Grundig Sat Box, Panasonic Tv and Video. Thanks. |

If you are using a Sat box and a VCR, always connect the Sat box to AV1 on the TV and remember to set the output of the box to RGB for best pic. Most (but not all) only accept RGB on scart socket 1. Connect the VCR scart of the Sat box to AV1/L1 on the VCR. When you want to record sat to the VCR set the VCR to AV1 (most Panasonic VCRs read A1). When you play a tape, it will pass through the Sat box to the TV. The problem with this simple method is that you cannot monitor exactly what the VCR is doing whilst it is making a recording. SO.... If the VCR has two scart sockets, as most newer Panasonics do, you can connect the sat box to AV1 on the TV as before and connect AV1 of the VCR to AV2 on the TV. (This way the two boxes feed the TV independently) Then connect a third scart lead from the VCR socket on the Sat box to AV2/L2 on the VCR. This time you need to set AV2 or L2 on the VCR when you want to record Sat. When you press "Sky" on the Sky handset the TV will flip to AV1/RGB. When you play a tape , the TV will flip to AV2. The advantage to the second method is that by manually selecting AV2 on the TV you can see exactly what the VCR is doing and you can see, on the screen, what channel the VCR is set to for recording. The first method only shows the VCR when it is actually playing a tape or when the VCR menu is called up. Just for the record, you can make Panasonic TVs go back to their own tuner using a Sky handset, by pressing TV then Help. Press Sky again to go back to Sky. Sorry, long-winded as usual but I hope this helps. |
