Default cable from 3 outlet dvd player to 5 inlet hdtv tv set?

I have a new Samsung HDTV LCD tv set that has component inputs needing
five wires.

However, the DVD player has output for only 3 wires (two audio, one
video).

Is there a cable that has 3 wires on one end 5 wires on the other, or
stating differently, a cable that would combine inputs?

If there is such a cable, would it enable me to take output of 3 wire
dvd player to 5 input lcd tv?

all information, opinions, etc. welcomed!

Sounds like your TV has component video in Y, Pr and Pb along with
stereo audio. Your DVD cables have composite video and stereo audio.
The composite video will be the poorest quality video and does not
convert easily to component .

The cheapo ($40) DVD player I bought for the kids a few years ago has
component outputs so there is a good chance yours does as well. You
may need something a simple as a different cable set to connect.

IF your player does have component outputs, you do NOT want to use
audio cables for the video components. If you have some video cables
(often yellow connectors) laying around you can use those for the
components (Pr and Pb). If you connect them incorrectly, nothing bad
will happen but you'll get some really bizarre colors.

Just last week, I replaced my dvd player, partially because it
only had the yellow composite video out. If your dvd player does not
have the component (red, green, blue) outputs, the next toy you might
want to buy is a new dvd/hddvd player/recorder.
