We bought a new Mitsubishi 57-734 a month ago today. The picture is
awesome, we were so impressed with the 73" 73-732 we purchased back in May that we got this one for another room. The only thing that I am concerned with is the sound quality. We are using the factory speakers and it is tinny & shreiky sounding at high pitches! We've tried fiddling with the sound on the TV (treble, bass, stereo options, etc) and cannot seem to make it disappear. We have it hooked up via HDMI cable to one of the new DirectTV HD DVR boxes, we also have a DVD player hooked up with component cables and get the same problem. We've been in contact with the purchasing dealer, Mitsubishi & a couple local repair shops. Today we get a call from one the of the repair shops saying Mitsubishi says it's a "normal" issue with the TV due to the size of the speakers and that they are "pointed down". The tech said he would come out anyway to take a listen. Anyone else having these same problems? Any suggestions? Anyone want a brand new Mits 57-734 for $1500?? LOL!! Oh, and we had the 73-732 hooked up the same way (HDMI cord to DirecTv HD DVR, etc) for 2 months while we shopped for a new receiver. We actually made the comment on how nice the factory speakers sounded! |

Well, the tech guy came today and said what we could have predicted.
He said it was "normal". Everything else about that TV is phenomenal, so I guess we will try to figure out an alternative for sound. We don't have the room hard-wired, so I was looking at the Bose Cine Mate system..but it gets mixed reviews. We actually have a couple-year old Yamaha receiver we aren't using plus a set of bookshelf Bose speakers, maybe we'll try that too! |

I would suggest you dump the Bose idea and fine a local dealer that sells decent mid level models a give them a listen.
