If you live in a strong signal area you should install a Log Periodic,
particularly for Digital. I`m quite certain about it, and so are the broadcast authorities who use Logs to receive and transmit signals wherever possible. Assuming you can use one, signal strength wise, Logs are the best aerials, period. url:http://myreader.co.uk/msg/124331817.aspx |

I`ve been farther South than Chesterfield, I was born in South Africa !!!
I haven`t installed an aerial on Crystal Palace, but that is irrelevant, unless it uses some new type of RF transmission with which I am not familiar. If a site is in a poor spot I am fully in agreement with Bill that a grouped aerial should be used, particularly in the B group, and especially the A group. In fact there is no such thing as a "High Gain" wideband aerial for the A group frequencies. I happen to know this for a fact, I`ve tested them ( http://www.aerialsandtv.com/tvaerialtests.html ) and even a QR10A will outperform a DAT45/DAT75 in the A group. I hate Wideband aerials, but Logs are where it`s at and now that you can get a Log40 you can even use them in medium areas, see test results : http://www.aerialsandtv.com/atvstock...html#Widebands url:http://myreader.co.uk/msg/124331817.aspx |

When it comes to aerial choice, remember the basic rule (which the broadcast authorities also use...), if you can use a Log, use a Log ! Be interesting to see what Mike Rea thinks of that statement ....-- Tony Sayer |
