OK, how do I connect my PC with downloaded HD copies of films to display
them on my HD TV ?

Naughty! ;-)

A simple DVI to HDMI cable (or adapter) works. That's assuming your PC has
DVI out, and your HD telly has HDMI in. That's what I use for my Panny HD
projector.

yes it will - providing you set the pc output to the right resolution - i.e
not 640x480 etc....

It should do.
My experience with downloaded HD material is that the bitrate is lower than
a 'real' HD or blu-ray disc. Depending on the scene, you may not notice. But
on action sequences artifacts will be visible.

depends what you get - maybe you are watching re-encodes.
there's plenty of transport streams out there which are the actual tv
broadcast intact in every way.

for torrents hdbits is the best.
otherwise i use alt.binaries.hdtv
