I've recently installed a motorised satellite dish for my dad and after
spending the last 2 days aligning it and trying to figure out how to tune it into Hellas Sat 2 when it wouldn't pick up any signal and eventually finding out that the Symbol Rates programmed into the box (Fortec Star beta, from Maplins) were all wrong and that was the reason why I was getting no signal (other than the bad weather) until I programmed it to scan the satellite manually after finding out the correct rates on the internet, I am now able to get all the free-to-air channels from Cyprus and Greece. Now the question is, can anyone confirm that SKAI is showing Doctor Who in Greece and if so which series is it showing, when is it on, and most importantly, has it been dubbed into Greek. I'm really looking forward to hearing a Dalek speaking in Greek so is SKAI showing the English version with subtitles or a dubbed version? |

They'll be lucky if they can get the first Hartnell series yet. ( PS Let me know if you manage to record the Marco Polo story. ) = IF |

SKAI is airing Doctor Who Series 3 on Saturday afternoons at 3PM. I believe Blink aired on 1 December, so the Captain Jack episodes should be airing for the next 3 Saturdays. I don't know if they are dubbed or subtitled. SKAI will probably repeat the episodes later. At one point they aired Series 1 and 2 in a weekday slot. Their website is a bit confusing and in Greek, so it can be difficult to track exactly which episode airs each day. Benjamin Elliott http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho |

Takling about Captain Jack, there's a Greek radio station called "Captain Jack" on HellasSat 2 as well. I've not listened to it long enough to figure out if its about gay issues or what. Rumor has it that the Doctor is doing the dubbing so all you will hear is gibberish. |

So first of all, the fact that SKAI is showing Doctor Who here in Greece, is completely true. But the way that it is showing it, is a little complicated. You see in 2006 SKAI broadcasted the first season of the new series of doctor who, and it was dubbed in greek (Believe me, hearing a Dalek and all of the characters, especially the 9th doctor speaking in greek, was really epic, and I loved it). After that in 2007, it broadcasted the 2nd season (I'm speaking about the new series) with one differnce. This time there was no greek dub. It was the English version, with greek subtitles. In 2008, it broadcasted the 3rd season, in the same way it did with the 2nd. And that was the last one, that SKAI broadcasted since 2010, when it showed the 4th season, in the same way again. After the end of season 4, they repeated the 3rd season. And finally, now in the year 2011, SKAI is repeating again the 4th season. And we're not talking about greek dub. We're talking about the english version with greek subtitles. But, if you're interested in Doctor Who with greek subtitles, then you can find on the internet greek subs for all of the last six seasons. |
