I don't get sound on my TV when using only the HDMI connector and
source set to HDMI2. I had to get a HD component 5 plug cable and set the source to Component1 to get sound while still using the HDMI connector. I thought I only needed the HDMI. Am I wrong? Thanks, Bill |

Sometimes the HDMI handshaking can get screwed up on one end or the other and cause communications problems. |

Sometimes the HDMI handshaking can get screwed up on one end or the other and cause communications problems. Check if you can select what type of digital sound is output from the receiver box. Either specifically for HDMI or in general. I'm not familiar with your models but many TV:s don't handle multichannel or Dolby Digital 2.0 (and don't seem to tell the source about it) but requires you to manually select sound type in the source as "Stereo" or "PCM". I use analogue sound in parallel to HDMI to the TV in my system (and S/PDIF to the surround amp) in order to simply switch source at the surround amp when I want DD 5.1 sound or just stereo. (This is because the control is common to both "digital sound" and HDMI outputs. /Jan |

I do get excellent audio using the audio HD component plugs even thought the HDMI plud is not carrying the audio.. |
