Yes? But this is true of all national flags since many/most countries
are multi-cultural. I don't see much in the way of requests to stop
flying the Stars and Stripes in the USA, for example and the people there
are comprised of as many originating nationalities and creeds and
religions as you could imagine - they don't feel excluded, it's their
flag, whatever their family origins. This is our flag. So what you are
suggesting is that flags in general should be scrapped. I cannot see why
the union flag is any different - oh yes, *some* Scots and others may not
like being a part of this particular union but that is a whole different
question.

In USA you have to be American.
They got more sence than here, if you not noticed they have made English a
dirty word now.

Well they only have themselves to blame.

Regards
David

I've already done that, if I fly a flag at all it's a St. George cross
or a Yorkshire flag.

They don't make Trolls like they used to.

Flying the Union Jack or indeed the Union Flag is basically saying either "I
support Nick Griffin", "I support Ian Paisley", or "I'm Gordon Brown".
Everyone else flies the Scottish, English or Welsh flags, or the Irish
tricolour.

Round here the flag of choice for Nick Griffin supporters is the
English flag. Don't think I've ever seen a Union Flag being flown in
that context.

You're aware of the difference between the Union Jack and the Union
flag? I'm sure someone will point it out.

Not of any real significance to most people.

Perhaps "most people" should be better educated.

Union Jack, union flag are exactly the same thing and any official
government organisation will tell you the same. People who try to
pretend they are clever by making a difference do the exact opposite,
they show themselves to be Colonel Buffy Buftons (ret'd) who have lost
touch with the real world but still think their 19th century education
means they know everything.

In the USA people tend to fly many flags. One might be the stars and
stripes, another might be the country of origin, yet another the state
flag and others for baseball and football team you support

I like that, everyone had different allegences depending on
circumstances. Union Flag for the olympics, English/Scotish for the
football/rugby, England/Pakistani for the cricket

Mix and match and feel free to do so.

Top posting ****wit.

No, but individuals should be able to fly it alongside the Union Flag,
alongside the English flag, alongside with putting up a cross in your window

Blue background with the white Yorkshire Rose in the centre, the
stylised one not the true one as on the Yorkshire County Cricket Club
flag.

I've also seen one suggested as an offset St. George cross, like the
Scandinavian ones, with the rose at the centre of the cross, I quit like
the idea.
