After doing a bit of looking, it seems a 37" HDTV is best
given a maximum viewing distance of seven feet (84" from center of where TV will be--on a shelf--to chair headrest). Note: I don't watch sports or many DVDs..... General television watching, mostly.... The space can hold up to a 46"-47" HDTV, but it is impossible to see the whole screen at once with anything 40" or larger and be comfortable viewing the set (head/eyes always moving to view one side of screen then the other). Thus, the 37" maximum size--can see entire width at once. Doubtful if 1080p is worth it for the size--but can't hurt to ask. Recommendations for make/model given a 37" HDTV? Stopped at Best Buy, was not thrilled. Ditto for CC. Both are pushing 32" for (IMO) big bucks. Been scanning the Black Friday ads--nothing especially noteworthy (yet). Recommended antenna for OTA reception. Currently using a RS rabbit ears w/amplifier. Should work for digital signal, but will it really work for OTA HDTV? Unknown until get HDTV and try. Analog works ok, but can lose any channel at any time. Live in concrete highrise facing east. Broadcast towers are located 10.25 miles away at 39 degrees (NE). Antenna is about a foot inside the windows (as close as it can get). |

There are not a lot of good 37" LCD's, probably because most manufacturers seem to make a 40", which is too close to 37" to offer both models. |

had a flock of green cheek conures squawk out: After doing a bit of looking, it seems a 37" HDTV is best given a maximum viewing distance of seven feet (84" from center of where TV will be--on a shelf--to chair headrest). Been scanning the Black Friday ads--nothing especially noteworthy (yet). Recommended antenna for OTA reception. Currently using a RS rabbit ears w/amplifier. The only difference between a digital tv antenna and an analog tv antenna, is the label and sometimes the price. Live in concrete highrise facing east. Broadcast towers are located 10.25 miles away at 39 degrees (NE). Antenna is about a foot inside the windows (as close as it can get). If you're getting the analog tv signals, you should have no problem getting the digital signals. Stephen -- |

I love my 37 inch Emerson LCD HDTV from Walmart, bought last xmas day
for about $900. Also love my SOVA 32 inch LCD HDTV in the bedroom. $599 from BUY.COM. Definitely prefer the one with both tuners built-in. My SOVA had the standard tuner for cable and OTA but no HDTV - requires another box for that. which I bought.
