Most (if not all!) of these pictures have been pinched from
http://www.safetycenter.navy.mil/photo/archive/default.htm which is
well worth a visit instead ...

The ladder in the pool made me remember a chap in Mauritius trying to drill
holes in the wall of a swimmimg pool in order to fit depth marker signs.
After trying unsuccesfully to lie on the edge of the pool and drill leaning
over, he eventually climbed into the pool and carried on, standing waist deep
in water, wielding his mains-powered electric drill...
