Well caravanners/campers use TVs from thier 12 volt car battery. In the past the sources for these sets have been from caravan dealers and camping suppliers in the main, at high prices. But I now use a normal 15" LCD Tv from Tesco because whilst being intended for mains use it uses a seperate power supply of 12/13volt. This 12/13v input i use my 12v caravan supply into. I selected a DVD player and also a Freeview box with 12v inputs in the same way. Back to your question your rechargable TV seems a good idea, but I wonder how big/heavy it would be. Also would the above that I use be chosen over yours? Regards David |

Excessively high prices!!!!!! But I now use a normal 15" LCD Tv from Tesco because whilst being intended for mains use it uses a seperate power supply of 12/13volt. This 12/13v input i use my 12v caravan supply into. My neighbour collard me a while back because he was having a job wiring his 12V to 240V inverter into his caravan. When I asked what he was going to run from it he said the new TV and only the TV. It took some explaining to get him to accept that it would be much more efficient to run the TV directly off the 12V supply! -- Bill |

For digital only, you may find a larger range if you expand your searches for portable DVD players with Freeview capability. There appear to be many models with 7 or 9 inch screens, internal batteries and a 'cigar lighter' attachment. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

Now the ludicrously expensive Patientline has driven free telly out of the hospitals, patients are turning to all manner of small screen with USB-type DTT plug-ins. You could look at the Evesham 7" analogue telly. I have four of these and they are very good. Roadstar are the leaders in small tellys though. Bill |

Bill I have an August one (no, I ain't heard of them either) which has analogue & DTT and comes with mains adapter and 12V cigarette lighter adapter. 10" widescreen. Works quite well, picture ain't brilliant, but passable for occasional use. Cost about £150. Marky P. |
