A dish will work in a large, thin-walled plastic compost bin and also
behind frosted corrugated plastic roofing sheets. Its best to arrange
it with the corrugations running top to bottom so water and leaves
fall off. You can make a simple "A" frame like a plant cloche. If the
dish is mounted very low on a paving slab it doesn't have to be too
big. Best to avoid the flat twin wall sheeting, but that is too
transparent anyway.

Isn't it soooo bloody stupid that we're so obsessed with the obscene
sight of a satellite dish then we have to hide it under a bit of
corrugated sheeting!.

What are we trying to do, make it grow?!.

Meanwhile the Thelves bling and their ilk flourish without this
horticultural expedience;!....

I quite agree. Most of the time when this sort of problem occurs
around here it is the landlord that has laid the law down. It is often
the "lord of the manor" and the tied cottages.
Depending who it is, they are often my customers anyway and I
sometimes can drag them out to see the set-up for themselves. Often,
but not always, they see how rediculous the whole thing is and when I
demonstrate how small and inconspicuous the dish is if it is well
installed, they agree anyway.
However I know the problem with the global rulings of the big estates
and parks etc.
We have seldom been beaten yet in hiding a dish when theoretically it
has been outlawed and its a bit of a challenge really, but its still
stupid.

You can get an EchoLink FTA 909 for £40 or so (+ shipping). No dish but if
you want a disguised dish the Lidl one would fit the bill.

I have found a number of the on-line dealers quite helpful once they realise
you know a bit about the subject.

Sat receivers can be pretty cheap these days. It might be better to go

I bought the recent fixed satellite kit from Lidl and I'm pretty certain
no online dealer could match the price (60 quid) including carriage. Nor
am I confident you'll get decent advice from an online dealer anyway.

You can buy dishes disguised as garden lamps & various other things. I
can't
remember where I'm afraid (do a google search?)

What no one can answer is why is a lump of ally and plastic shaped like
a Thelves DAT 45 or similar considered more "worthy" then the same metal
and plastic shaped like a satellite aerial?.....

I have a very attractive antracite 80 cm dish attached to a lovely alloy
patio mount in my garden.

For some reason, my wife has never appreciated the inate beauty of this
piece of "Garden Sculpture"

Well being married to a frog who likes her froggie telly she has no
problem at all with it, but their up the corner in the garden hidden
away covered with dark green and brown camaflaouge paint and no one
notices or bothers about them. Mustn't have be where their visible on
the gaff now must we;--!..

One of our neighbours is a keen Jazz fan, on hearing that we receive
many Classical and Jazz stations enquired how he could do the same. You
need a satellite receiver said I .. Oh!, does that mean we will need a
dish, enquired he?..

Yes but you can tuck it out round the back of your shed where it will
work fine and be well out of the way sez I..

Ah! Sez he, a dish!,... (after a long pause) don't think we can be doing
with that..is there any other way like if we put up a big aerial?..

Sez it all......

You retail aerials without installing them?

My original comment did refer to online ones, though.
