Is Astra2D a different satellite?

It depends what you mean by different. It is one of the group of Astra 2
satellites all in the same orbital position that are used for UK satellite
TV including Sky.

It is the same individual satellite in that position that is used for the
FTA broadcasts of the BBC channels, and has a fairly narrow footprint in an
attempt to restrict coverage to the UK. See
http://www.astra.lu/consumer/uk/how-...ints/index.php.

Channel 4 is currently on Astra 2A which has a wider footprint.

It makes me wonder why someone like Arquiva or National grid wattless
hasn't gone to the terrestrial broadcasters and arranged or organised a
system that uses a satellite via ASTRA in the 28.2 cluster that uses a
simple digital box and dish for a proper Freesat service without having
to have a card, free or not from Sky, and reliance on the proprietary
Skybox!.....

I've been saying this for years Tony, especially with Liddle's selling
receivers for around £39.00.. cheaper than an aerial!

They may change their mind when they're the only one left.

This is good news. I may consider getting a dish next year. Is Astra2D a
different satellite? Also, is Men & Motors still available on Freesat?

Peter

And nor will I now they have DOG ****.

Why is it Channel 5's DOG **** was (re-)introduced, btw? It's not a question
of "nice to meet you / how do you do". The ****ing things are imposed on
viewers by dictate regardless of whether one wants them or not.

I don't think they will. I don't think Channel 5 have any interest in
analogue/terrestrial broadcasting. DOG **** smeared channels are aimed at
satellite users and channels with very small audiences not mass markets.

What has their interest in analogue/terrestrial got to do with whether
'five' stays FTV or changes to FTA?
