HI,

Has anyone got one of these?

I have just moved overseas (again) and am looking to buy one.

I note that I can use it straight out of the box to (remotely)
receive
freeview channels in real time, but ideally I want to connect it up
to
my PVR.

However, I am having difficulty working out which PVRs it can control
with its remote IR lead, Does anybody know some that it can control?

I also see that it requires an S-Video input which most PVRs don't
have
(as an output). The 'solo' version comes with a conversion connector
to
Scart, but no-one has this in stock, and the 'classic' version (which
I
can buy immediately) doesn't have this included. Is this a standard
connector which I can buy separately, or is it something special?
(and do all PVRs have S-video in their Scarts or is that something
special?)

Finally, I have an ADLS router with a single ethernet connection.
As I won't be needing to use my computer whilst I using the slingbox,
can I just unplug the computer and plug in the slingbox instead, or
do I need both to be connected to perform some 'configuration'/
checking of the connection?

TIA

tim

Humax PVR's have S-video output on either scart. Just use a Scart to
"S" and audio phono socket adaptor and set up "S" output on the menu.
Dont know about other questions though, sorry.

I saw a review of the tuner-less Slingbox on The Register in the last
week or so. They used it with a Humax 9200 PVR and it had the settings
already in there to control it via IR. I believe there were some issues
with it, but it does claim to support that PVR out the box.

So there's something else to add to my "perfect Toppy" wish list. Just
under "real network connection" I can add "streaming support".

Out of interest, any PVR software (like MythTV etc) that can stream for
those "build-your own" enthusiasts?

OK that will be the Solo

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/10...slingbox_solo/

Which appears to be out of stock everywhere, including direct from
Slingmedia.

Perhaps that's because they haven't actually delivered any to the UK
yet!

Seems to be just what I want, except that I want it today :-(

It also isn't helpful that it works with the Hummy, as I don't have
one and don't really want to run around trying to find somewhere that
I can get one. I only have this weekend (or some future unspecified
weekend) to do it, so mail order is no use to me.

Oh well

Don't buy the Solo buy the Original version which you can still buy
from Amazon for £30 less than than the Solo. The transmission rate
is lower, but it won't make much difference for most usage. And the
original version also uses video inputs as well as S-video, so you
can use it with anything that has a Scart socket.

OK well that's good to know.

But how do I find out how to connect the scart on the PVR to the
inputs on slingbox (and which inputs)?

Is there a standard cable I can buy (a link would be appreciated)
or do I have to make one up?

The Slingbox comes with a SCART through cable which splits off the
correct cables to connect to it and the manual shows you how to do
it.
