Default HDMI And Optical?

Hi

I have sort of asked this before... I have just ordered my new Samsung
40" HDTV. I have also ordered an upgrade to Sky HD. My Home Theatre
amp does not have HDMI. I would like to route Shy HD video to the TV
through HDMI and audio through to the amp via optical (so I get Dolby
Digital). Is this set up possible??

Thanks

Kulgan.

Of course.
The Optical out is independant of the video out (HDMI & SCART) so
should always be available (provided its turned on of course)

i thought hdmi carried digital audio signal as well.
there may be a splitter to split the audio and video.

The OP was referring to the optical output from the box.
No splitting required.

That's what I;d like to get. I'd be interested what you make of it and
how it behaves on SD programming.

Cheers

Are you aware of the faults with the M86/M87 sets?

I'm actually buying on a recommendation from a friend who has the same
set. He has one with the latest firmware which works out the reported
bugs. The reviews I have read on t'Internet all say it looks good on
SD. I am buying it for 360 gaming and Sky HD. I don't have an HD DVD
player or Blu Ray player yet. I am slightly concerned about the large
array of configuration options but several helpful people have posted
their configs on the AV Forum so I will try one of them as a base and
tweak from there.

I will keep you posted!

Kulgan.
