Default Which Co-Axial cable to buy

Hi group.

I've got to run a 20 metre length of cable from my aeriel amplifier in
the loft to a new point in my conservatory.

Obviously I'm not stupid enough to buy the cheap crap sold in DIY
stores, so can someone post a link to some quality stuff suitable for
the job please.

I've got a horrible feeling I'll need to buy 100m of the stuff, but
c'est la vie.

Cheers
Steve

With CPC you sometimes can't avoid pre-cut lengths.

I ordered 5 metres of very slim mains flex. What arrived was Qty 5: 1 metre
lengths. I phoned them, explaining what I actually wanted was Qty 1: 5 metre
length.
The bloke the other end couldn't seem to grasp it. I now just visualise YTS
employees sitting in CPC Towers cutting 100 metre drums of cable into 1 metre
lengths all day long.

In the end I went to Wilcos, and got exactly what I wanted.

CT100 certified. With a certification label on it.
B&Q used to sell it in 25-m sealed coils (not the same as their off-the-drum
"satellite" cable).

CT100, or any cable of this quality or better. You can usually tell a good
cable by uncovering it and having a look. Good outer screening (double
screened is better, copper braid and copper foil).

I'd say they stocked them as pre-cut 1 metre lengths.

It looks that way, but why go to the trouble ? Whichever way you look
at it, it was more effort for them to chop a cable five times, rather
than just once !

I meant it was supplied to them like this. Might also be to do with regs
and thin mains flex. Any mains flex these days must be capable of blowing
a 13 amp fuse in event of a short without suffering damage - and this will
be dependant on length.
