Default Question about room brightness for front projection.

Projectorcentral.com lists the Max Room Lighting for a projector in
percent and foot candles. Example is a 9% 3fc room to be the maximum
recommended light for watching movies.

I realize the darker the room the better but just how bright is a 9%
3fc room?

Thanks
Brian

I find anything other than total darkness is pretty bad. Some ambient
lighting might be okay for casual watching, but if you want to get serious
it needs to be DARK.

not very, if you close your eyes, its about that dark
3 foot candles...
the light of 3 candles at 1 foot with a sheet of cardboard
blocking the view of the candles.
if you are prepared to use the projection in very low light
it works as far as brightness is concerned.
what works best is a professional glass bead screen gain 1.15
