Many radios for the US market has not only the AM and FM bands but
they also have the TV band. Can anyone explain what is the TV band ? Can you hear to television broadcasts in that band ? If so, could it work in Italy too ? Thanks |

ups.com... Many radios for the US market has not only the AM and FM bands but they also have the TV band. Can anyone explain what is the TV band ? Can you hear to television broadcasts in that band ? If so, could it work in Italy too ? Thanks Maybe, or not. TV in the US uses (I believe) mainly VHF whereas in the UK (for example) TV is on VHF. You need to find out what the frequencies of Italian TV stations are (sometimes "channel numbers" such as 21-69 in the UK) and see if they match the radio specs. FWIW, in the UK you can purchase mini-LCD TVs. If you turn the brightness on the screen down, you have a TV capable radio ;-). Until DSO (Digital SwitchOver) occurs in the UK of course! Paul DS |

I'm sure you meant to say that UK TV is UHF. Steve |

Quite wrong. Details here. http://www.csgnetwork.com/tvfreqtable.html Thanks for that. I had though that UDF was being used for the newer HD services and didn't realise they were already using it for regular TV. Paul DS. |

Details here. http://www.csgnetwork.com/tvfreqtable.html Peter Crosland That list of frequencies is a bit of a hotch-potch, and rather confusing. It even seems incorrect in places (eg 'Mid Band UHF Ch. 14 - 22 121 - 174 MHz'). The normal TV off-air Low Band, High Band and UHF frequencies are given as channel edges, while the Cable TV frequencies are the actual vision and sound frequencies. -- Ian |
