Default using my computer through my tv monitor

i just bought a new tv and on the back it has a pc video connection
(RGB input). When i statr up my computer the image comes up fine. Once
the computer has started up the monitor says that it has no signal.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem?

Many thanks,

go into the display settings of your pc - make sure it's enabled for dual
display - unless your pc is ancient and doesnt support such a thing.

Dr Zoidberg,

That has fixed my problem, my tv only supports 1024 x 768 and I had
the PC running on 1280 x 1024. Thanks very much!

No probs.
It's something that's caught me out before :0)

Actually, may I barge in here with a problem I have? I wanted my PC
to run on my monitor & my TV. I set it for dual screens, but it only
displays the wallpaper on the telly whilst the monitor carries on as
normal. The only other setting I can find just reverses that process,
when I want the same on both screens. I'm running Vista. Any ideas?

Do you want both screens to show the same content, or do you want a
large virtual desktop spread across both screens?

(note the state of the checkboxes on the settings for the second screen)

It's working fine for me on Vista Home Premium on my laptop and a
26" Philips at 1360 * 768 using PowerStrip. Assuming it's all
working right, you will get the wallpaper on the second screen but
all programs will still open on the original screen. If you have a
window that's not minimised, try dragging it across to the TV and
see if it works.

If it does, when you then reboot the computer without the TV
switched on next time all the programs will open on the monitor
again. If you want to move things like Internet Explorer across that
are maximised, you need to Restore them (double-click on the title
bar) before you can drag them across.

you've probably chosen extended desktop - i.e you have 2 independent
monitors.
go back into your settings and turn that off - although i must admit i
prefer it that way - i can always drag a playing video onto the tv from the
pc monitor.
